PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
An-Noor Private Islamic School is a registered private full-time school with the Ontario Ministry of Education, for grades Pre-K, JK-Gr.8. The school has a multi-purpose gymnasium, large playground facility and fully operational library. The school employs Ontario certified staff across every grade from K-8, including a number of local graduates from the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor.
The An-Noor Pre-K/Child Care Centre has a Ministry licensed program with certified ECE staff. Preschoolers experience a full early years curriculum which also includes instruction in Qur’an, Arabic and Islamiyat, while also integrating Montessori methods and materials. On a daily basis, our certified cooking staff use our full kitchen to prepare breakfast and a fresh hot lunch for children.
Our JK and SK programs teach the full Ontario Curriculum while also integrating Montessori methods and materials. In Grades 1-8, the classroom program follows the Ontario Curriculum. Students from JK-Gr.8 receive regular daily instruction for Qur’an, Arabic and Islamiyat. A full Physical Education curriculum is an integral part of our school program. There are 2 important support programs in place: 1) the Arabic Bridging Program to assist students from Gr. 2-8 who are challenged by the language; 2) the Learning Support Program to assist students from Gr.1-8 in literacy and numeracy skills, ESL and other learning challenges.
Sh. Mohamed Mahmoud provides direct instruction for a before school Tahfiz ul-Qur’an program which runs throughout the school year. This program has grown since last year and continues with great success.
An-Noor participates in the yearly EQAO testing, consistently scoring well. The school regularly receives awards for students who participate in the Regional Science Fair, Math contests, Spelling Bee contests, Writing competitions and other academic competitions. An-Noor aims to foster wider community engagement by participating in charitable activities such as the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Jump for Heart, the Annual Muslim Community Coat Drive, and the An-Noor Monthly Loonie Sadaqa Drive.
